A Dinosaur’s New Home

I’ve been unemployed since the day I was born

At first it seemed like a blessing

And now it feels like a chore

What else can I say other than that

I wasn’t built to be something

Or somebody

And maybe, just maybe

I was born a dinosaur

One with claws and one that escapes

From traps and teeth of predators

And runs free and maybe becomes a bird

One day.

I’ve been dying my whole short long life.

And thank the dinosaur God

That I’m not anything else.
